Leonie Rastas - C-section recovery educator
Leonie Rastas is an experienced C-section mamma, registered nurse for birth recovery, midwife, author, educator and holistic trauma therapist dedicated to helping people move from anxiety and fear to calm, confident emotional regulation.
Known as the C-section Recovery Whisperer®, Leonie is a recognised expert in cesarean recovery and a birth trauma specialist, addressing the often-overlooked emotional and physical challenges that can arise long after birth, including birth trauma that may surface months later.
With over 40 years of clinical practice and healing, Leonie has transformed countless lives through her integrative approach to care.
In 2010 she was admitted as a Fellow of the Royal College of Nursing Australia, now the Australian College of Nursing, in recognition of her service and commitment to holistic healthcare.
Driven by her passion for improving outcomes for C-section mothers, Leonie designed and created a specialised TGA-approved C-section wound support splint, now used by women seeking comfort, safety, and a smoother post-surgical recovery.
Leonie is a recognised expert in midwife postpartum recovery and has shared her expertise on national and international stages, presenting papers and workshops across Australia, the UK, Canada, and the USA.
She has been interviewed on UK and Australian podcasts and regularly contributes to the Australian Practising Midwives Journal, writing on issues relating to surgical birth and recovery.
Through her social media platforms, she has reached thousands, generously offering guidance, insight, and heartfelt support.
She is the founder of Caesarcare, a service offering focused strategies for healing after surgical birth and trauma.
In 2005, Leonie also founded the Australian Pastoral Healthcare Network, a not-for-profit health promotion charity created to support individuals experiencing grief, loss or social isolation—an organisation built on the dedication of like-minded volunteers.
Leonie lives on the Sunshine Coast with her husband, close to two of her adult children and her first grandchild. When she’s not supporting families or writing, you’ll find her enjoying live comedy, singing with Australia’s iconic 1,500-voice Pub Choir (when she can get tickets!), or camping by the beautiful rivers and coastline she loves.
